Why dont i bruise. Answer please?

Twice in the last week I have gotten hit with a softball while i was playing for my select softball team. The first time, last tuesday, about a week ago, I got a line drive foul tip to my face(no fences protecting the dugout), right near the temple, which still gives me headaces and is swollen, The second time happened yesterday I got a fastball right into the shin, it is swollen, hurts to walk on and bend knee and turn ankle. For neither of them did I get a bruise. Is there a reason for this? They are both red and swollen but no bruises
