Error 800 Mayhem! I can not connect to my VPN Private network!?

So, recently I was plagued by a pretty nasty virus (one of those viruses that poses as an anti-virus program but is really just a nasty little virus that tries to coerce people into buying it, when it does absolutely nothing but send you "warning message" after "warning message". It also launched a stream of webpages of it's own accord leading to ographic sites that were a pain to delete.) Anyway, after a whole night of teeth-gnashing and swearing, I finally managed to wipe it out with Malware-Bytes, only to discover immediately after doing so and restarting my computer, while I can connect to Firefox (thank God), I cannot connect to Internet Explorer, nor Yahoo Messenger, nor my VPN personal network. I am absolutely clueless as to what to do about this problem. Please help?
