How can i make sure this guy knows for sure i like him ? And does he like me ?

Theres this guy that ive never actually met but im going to school with him next year , and hes gorgeous , extremely sweet , hilarious , and i cant tell if he likes me or not . I mean , hes said that i was pretty twice , but never anything after/more than that . I asked him once if he was single , and he said " yes i am ;) " . So the winky face kind of got my hopes up for when i see him in school next year . Hes one year older than me , and i just cant tell if hes into me , and i dont want to flirt too much and then ruin any chances i might have or might not have had...i hope that makes sense . Anyways , i would really like to know if he likes me and find out for sure without being too obvious about it . Btw , im pretty sure he knows i like him , but i have a feeling that he thinks i thnk theres something wrong with him (which i rlyyy dont) . So , how can i tell or see if this guys into me or not ? Any clues that you guys drop that i dont know about ? Anyway i can find out without being too obvious ? Please help me :[
