Is it right to macer helpless Philippine peasants who just want the gov't to implement genuine land reform?
On January 22, 1987, crowd control troops open fired on a protest rally of about 10,000 peasant farmers demanding genuine land reform from then. an ethnic Chinese, President Corazon Aquino, . Thirteen of the protestors were killed and hundreds more were injured in that incident which is now called the Mendiola Macre. Land distribution of which big land holdings are to be bought by the government, and to be distributed to the peasant who tilt the soil, became a law. But, of the very party involve, the Philippine ex-President defied the law and instead, had the protesters macered by the Philippine marines. This is only one among the many incidents wherein ethnic filipino peasants are macered by big land owners, mostly committed by ethnic Chinese in their adapted country.
