Can/does Benadryl cause numbness or tingling in your hands?

I haven't taken Benadryl since I was a teen! I woke up Friday with hives and a red splotchy rash from head to toe. I still have the rash and am tired of being so itchy! I have NO idea what started this, but I knew I wanted the itching to go away. I took a benadryl and now my fingers in my hands are tingling and going numb. Is this common????
