Can I ask a person who is just a mere contact for a letter of recommendation for Yale/UPenn?

Brother , its really great to have somebody like your age-old friend to give you a letter of recommendation , but its not his knowledge of the businesss but you interactions with him will be of great importance . now days b- schools are to smart , and they very well know that which letters are made up and which are genuine . you could get a normal person , who know you very well and can present you in very honest manner with all weaknesses and strengths properly balanced , and plead your case , why you should be admitted to concerned b-school, rather than a highly successful guy who may not do the subjective evaluation of you personality . Honest account of your personality matters more than the source of the letter of the recommendation . because every mba aspirant does the same to get letter from imminent person. try to do different and stand out .
